So Good posts an ad that features buttered burgers. It’s pretty comical and pretty gross at the same time; I like a little fat on my burger, but this is going too far.
There’s a lot of buzz about the new calorie labels to appear on Coca Cola products, but Fooducate asks, are they a good thing?
In the past I’ve had the intention to send out creative Holiday Cards, but this food-filled, homemade idea by Heart’s Delight Cards may be the inspiration I need to actually do it.
I’d like to see more evidence, but the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the rate of smoking in the food business is greater than in any other profession; a whopping 44.7 of workers fessing up to smoking during last month. My past experience as the only non-smoking waitress in a chain restaurant gives me an inkling this might be true. [via The Food Section].

Lastly, Joe Pastry gets festive with these colorful, iced cookies in the spirit of Fall (he goes through the process, for the home cook, on previous posts).

Some treats from the last few days:
Food & Think discusses the sugar shortage: its detrimental impact on American business and its positive impact on the American diet?
GoodEater.org proposes its candidates for top 5 moments in food history from the end of the last ice age, to the beginning of the 20th century. Events are chosen based on their effect on human societies.
Accidental Hedonist reprints a rather telling food fact from Time Magazine that illustrates why there are sometimes financial barriers to eating well. The comments are interesting to read.
If you go to the movies, what do you have with your popcorn: soda, pop, or coke? That might depend on where you’re ordering from. Check out this regional map . I found the link on a class website for the World History of Food, taught by James LaFleur at the University of Virginia. If I were a UVA student, you could bet I’d take this class!
Lastly, if this picture from foodphotoblog.com doesn’t make you want to get a waffle press
, I’m not sure what will!
